ABIDJAN / LAGOS — Securities regulators and exchange directors from the Bourse Régionale des Valeurs Mobilières (BRVM) and Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) have signed a comprehensive cross-listing and depository passporting accord in Abidjan.
The framework enables publicly listed blue-chip companies in Côte d'Ivoire, Senegal, and Nigeria to trade their equities across both platforms without separate corporate registry incorporations. With a combined market capitalization surpassing $42 billion, the interconnected exchange pool becomes the second largest capital trading floor on the African continent.
Direct settlement between the Central Depository (DC/BR) in Abidjan and the Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) in Lagos will allow institutional pension funds and retail brokerages to execute orders in either CFA Francs or Naira with real-time FX conversion.
NGX Group Managing Director Temi Popoola and BRVM Chief Executive Edoh Kossi Amenounve confirmed that the first joint listings under the corridor will feature regional pan-African banking and telecommunications heavyweights before the second quarter of 2027.
