NDAYANE, SENEGAL — Construction teams from global logistics giant DP World and Senegalese civil engineering contractors have completed the first 800 meters of the deepwater breakwater at the new Port of Ndayane, marking a major milestone in the $1.1 billion port infrastructure investment.
Located 50 kilometers south of Dakar, the Ndayane terminal features an 18-meter natural maritime draft and a 5-kilometer access channel, enabling it to accommodate the largest container vessels currently sailing global maritime corridors.
Managing Director of the Port Autonome de Dakar Mountaga Sy affirmed that Ndayane will serve as the premier maritime logistics gateway for landlocked Mali, handling up to 2.5 million TEUs annually and eliminating heavy container vehicle congestion from central Dakar.
The project is integrated with the Special Economic Zone at Diass adjacent to Blaise Diagne International Airport (AIBD), creating a seamless sea-air freight transshipment hub for agricultural and pharmaceutical exports.
