ABIDJAN / ACCRA — The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) and Côte d’Ivoire’s Le Conseil du Café-Cacao (CCC) have issued a joint declaration from Abidjan, reaffirming unwavering adherence to the $400-per-tonne Living Income Differential (LID) mechanism across all 2026/2027 export sales.
Meeting under the auspices of the Côte d’Ivoire-Ghana Cocoa Initiative (CIGH), Executive Secretary Alex Assanvo emphasized that the world’s two largest cocoa producers, accounting for over 60% of global bean supplies, will not compromise on farmgate remuneration for smallholder producers.
The joint body introduced a shared digital registry tracking origin forward sales, preventing multinational chocolate manufacturers from evading origin differentials through intermediary offshore trade houses.
COCOBOD Chief Executive Joseph Boahen Aidoo affirmed that the stabilized floor price, combined with renewed agroforestry investments, directly shields rural farming households against international terminal market speculation on ICE London and New York.
